It might not be the most convenient thing once the town is afloat, but with all the storms and floods so much of the central U.S. is going through, I thought I’d offer up a little widget I just came across.
Developed by Adam Franco, the RiverLevels widget provides an easy way to monitor the amount of water flowing in your favorite streams and rivers right from your Mac Dashboard. Adam says the RiverLevels widget is of particular interest to whitewater kayakers and canoeists. But who’s to say it can’t be handy for other uses?

Data for the widget comes from the United States Geological Survey (USGS); you select the stream-gauge station you want and it will automatically refresh to provide you with the latest graph of the water-level.
Thanks for SmallDog.com, our favoritest Mac and electronics resource, for the tip!
